Owner Surrenders
Owner Surrender, or relinquishing rights of ownership of your animal to the Hopkins County Humane Society, is a very difficult time not only for the family, but for the animal as well. Going from a family and a home environment to a shelter setting is not only scary for your pet, but it can be extremely stressful as well. We do everything we can to try to ease the animal's discomfort, but it may still be overwhelming. However, we do understand, that there are times when Owner Surrender is the only option left and we are here to help you every step of the way!

Below are the applications for Owner Surrender. Please click on the correct animal type and submit the application. A staff member will then be in contact with you to schedule an appointment to bring the animal to our facility.

*Please note, we do not accept out-of-county Owner Surrendered animals (proof of residency is required), we also do not accept the owner surrender of livestock or other farm animals. Please understand that all intakes, including Owner Surrendered animals, are scheduled by appointment. We have a limited number of spots available each week for Owner Surrendered animals due to the capacity constraints of the shelter; understand that some appointments for Owner Surrenders may be 1-2 weeks out, especially during peak seasons or in the event of us handling a hoarding situation or natural disaster.
Home to Home
Home To Home® program launch announcement
Hopkins County Humane Society is happy to announce a new program: Home To Home®!
Home To Home® helps pets stay out of shelters. It is a unique, direct-to-adopter tool for pet guardians looking to rehome or find a foster for their animals. In just a few simple steps, pets can find a loving new home without ever seeing the inside of a shelter. It gives animals needing a new home the best of both worlds: their current guardian can find the best fit, and their adopter can learn all about their personality and preferences first-hand. It’s a win-win for pets! The Hopkins County Humane Society is the Admin for this site and will actively monitor and service it. To learn more, visit our Home To Home™ website at https://home-home.org/shelter/hchs
While we currently can not accept any animals, we are hoping this new program will offer, at least, some relief for those families needing to find a new home for their pet!
ALL OWNER SURRENDERS ARE CURRENTLY SUSPENDED.
